Description:
Diclofenac sodium is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indicated for the relief of pain, stiffness, and swelling associated with various forms of arthritis, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Thiocolchicoside (THC) is utilized clinically for its muscle relaxant, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic properties. It has been shown to interact with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) type A receptors (GABA-ARs) and strychnine-sensitive glycine receptors in the rat central nervous system. Thiocolchicoside functions as a competitive antagonist at GABAA receptors and inhibits glycine receptors with comparable potency, while its effect on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors is significantly weaker. Due to its potent convulsant activity, thiocolchicoside should be avoided in individuals with a predisposition to seizures.
