Flavoxate is an anticholinergic agent with antimuscarinic properties. Its muscle relaxant effects are thought to result from a direct action on smooth muscle, rather than solely through the antagonism of muscarinic receptors.
Indications and Usage:
Flavoxate is indicated for the symptomatic relief of interstitial cystitis, dysuria, urgency, nocturia, suprapubic pain, increased urinary frequency, and incontinence, as may be observed in conditions such as cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis, and urethrocystitis/urethrotrigonitis.
