Description:

Ciprofloxacin ear drops are a quinolone antibiotic that exerts its antibacterial effects by targeting and eliminating susceptible bacteria. Ciprofloxacin demonstrates in vitro activity against a broad spectrum of both Gram-negative and Gram-positive organisms. Its bactericidal action is primarily due to the inhibition of the enzyme DNA gyrase, which is essential for bacterial DNA synthesis. This interference prevents the transcription of vital genetic information from the bacterial chromosomes, leading to a disruption of bacterial metabolism.

Ciprofloxacin has been demonstrated to be effective against most strains of various organisms, both in vitro and in clinical infections.

Indications and Usage:

Ciprofloxacin ophthalmic solution is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of designated microorganisms in the following conditions:

• Corneal ulcers
• Conjunctivitis
• For all ear infections: administer 2-3 drops every 2-3 hours initially, with a subsequent reduction in the frequency of administration as infection control is achieved.
