Description:
Diclofenac sodium injection is classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It demonstrates anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects in various animal models. While the precise mechanism of action of diclofenac sodium is not fully elucidated, it is believed to involve the inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) pathways. Additionally, its mechanism may be associated with the inhibition of prostaglandin synthetase.
Indications and Usage:
Diclofenac sodium is indicated for the management of mild to moderate pain, as well as for the management of moderate to severe pain, either alone or in conjunction with opioid analgesics. It is also recommended as initial therapy for inflammatory and degenerative rheumatic diseases, as well as for painful conditions resulting from inflammation of non-rheumatic origin and for acute attacks of gout.
