Description:

Bacillus coagulans is a Gram-positive, catalase-positive, spore-forming, and motile bacterium. It may appear Gram-negative during the stationary phase of growth. The optimal temperature for its growth is 50 °C.

Indications & Usage:

Bacillus coagulans is indicated for the treatment of diarrhea, including infectious types such as rotavirus diarrhea in children, traveler’s diarrhea, and diarrhea associated with antibiotic use. It is also utilized for various digestive issues, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, Clostridium difficile colitis, and the overgrowth of pathogenic bacteria in short bowel syndrome. Additionally, Bacillus coagulans may help manage infections caused by Helicobacter pylori, prevent respiratory infections, and enhance immune function. There is also interest in its potential role as an additive to vaccines to improve their efficacy and in cancer prevention or the reduction of cancer-promoting agents.
