Product Name: Streptococcus Thermophilus
Common Name: Streptococcus thermophilus, Probiotics
Strength: 2bn, 5bn, 20bn cfu/g
Description:
Streptococcus thermophilus is a gram-positive bacterium and a fermentative facultative anaerobe belonging to the viridans group. It tests negative for cytochrome, oxidase, and catalase, while demonstrating positive alpha-hemolytic activity. This organism is non-motile and does not produce endospores. It has an optimal growth temperature range of 35 to 42 °C, whereas Lactobacillus bulgaricus has an optimal range of 43 to 46 °C. As a lactic acid bacterium, S. thermophilus is commonly found in fermented milk products and is primarily used in yogurt production.
Indications & Usage:
Streptococcus thermophilus is a crucial lactic acid bacterium utilized for commercial applications, including the production of milk, cheese, and various dairy products. This thermophilic gram-positive bacterium exhibits optimal growth at 45 °C. It has the capability to generate energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) through aerobic respiration in the presence of oxygen. In the absence of oxygen, it can still produce ATP via fermentation. S. thermophilus lacks cytochrome, oxidase, and catalase enzymes, and it is non-motile.
